Why Rock Locs? The question: Why do you rock locs? The answers...
I came into this world nappy and long story short, they make me happy! ~
Shavon

I
rock locks cause they had stocks in us and and had us on slave blocks. Many of
us hug the neighborhood blocks, but I chose to embrace my brown face and and the
way my hair intertwines like electrical lines. It's just love yall... ~ Mecca

They
speak to me and for me. I believe a woman's hair is her glory no matter what state
it's in. How much more glorious can you get than loving yourself in your natural
state? ~ Choklit Butterfly

They
are a representation of who I am...NATURAL & LOVIN IT! ~ Ishanna

It
is the way God meant for my hair to be....I say this to my son all of the time...
~ Zulumama
I simply do not want to comb my hair into submission on a daily basis and
locs allow me to look beautiful while protesting the comb. ~ Breathing Light

I
wanted to appear different than the next light-skinned sista. In radio, you must
create your own identity in order for your audience to point you out in a crowd.
There were a few light skinned sistas here and we all looked alike. I was the
one who stepped up and cut my hair off to start a new look. ~Ki Ki

I've wanted them for a long time. I've always been an admirer. After being natural
for a little over a year I decided to lock. I love them; they are really low maintenance
but can be dressed up for those formal occasions or when I just want to be cute.
~ Shonda

I refuse to lye to myself. My hair is perfect just the way it is. ~ Franchesca

I
studied the books of Numbers, Deuteronomy and Judges in the Helios Biblios. In
that I found that Jesus as well as John the Baptist and Samuel were of the Nazarite
Order and grew locks as a means of showing their dedication to God. No scissors,
no comb, no vanity. As an Afrakan woman that meant even more to me because vanity
has been a source of confusion for the Afrakan worldwide, leading to much sickness
(mental, physical, and spiritual) and less love. So I sought to take the stance
of humble and strong and make it fly! ~Nya

It
allows me to remain natural and unique and with many more styling options than
I ever thought possible! ~ Leah

For
God. I realized I have been brainwashed to believe there was something wrong with
natural hair. I learned to embrace who I am. For God made me and He makes no mistakes.
